Common questions
Individual learning is free. All guides, templates, quizzes, exams, certificates, and interactive tools can be used anonymously with no login. For organisations that want team management, admin controls, seat allocation, and progress reporting across their staff, we offer paid Team, School, Business, and Council plans from £29/mo — see /pricing. The core individual learning content stays free.
Yes. All templates are designed to be adapted. Use them as a starting point, change the wording to suit your context, and adopt them through your usual governance processes. You don't need to credit us, although we appreciate it when people do.
Yes. Many organisations use our guides as the basis for short staff training sessions or as pre-reading. You can link to them directly, or copy short extracts into internal materials with a credit and a link back to the original page.
The Public Skills Hub editorial team. We have backgrounds in UK public sector procurement, AI policy, schools, and adult learning. Where we draw on external sources — DfE guidance, ICO statements, Cabinet Office PPNs, the Procurement Act 2023 — we reference them in the relevant guide. Our editorial policy explains how we develop and review content.
We review every guide at least annually, and we update guides faster than that whenever something significant changes — a new PPN, a court ruling, a Procurement Act amendment, a major change to a UK AI tool, or a new piece of DfE/ICO guidance. The 'Last updated' date on each guide shows when it was last reviewed.
No. Our exam certificates are signed and verifiable through our /verify endpoint, and we hear from learners who include them in CPD logs and on LinkedIn. But they are not accredited by a Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) awarding body. We're transparent about this because the value of our certificates is in what they demonstrate (focused knowledge, validated by an exam), not in formal accreditation.
An earned certificate is issued by our exam pipeline when you pass one of our timed exams (Workplace AI Fundamentals or UK Procurement Fundamentals). It has a verification ID, can be checked at /verify/[id], and is suitable for LinkedIn. A Personal Learning Record is a self-declared document you create using the Personal Learning Record Generator tool — it's clearly watermarked as self-declared and is not verifiable. Both have a place; please don't conflate them.
Yes — public sector context is one of our focus areas. Our procurement guides cover the Procurement Act 2023 in plain English. Our AI guides include public-sector-specific considerations (FOI, citizen data, public accountability). Our role pages include NHS staff, council staff, school leaders, and governors. We also have dedicated sector hubs for the NHS, schools, councils, charities, and higher education.
No — all individual learning is anonymous by default. Guides, templates, quizzes, exams, and tools work without any signup. You only need an account if you're on a Team, School, Business, or Council plan (so your organisation can track member progress and manage seats), or if you want your earned certificates saved to a profile.
We use AI as a drafting and editing aid in some areas, like any modern editorial team. But every guide, template, and FAQ is reviewed and approved by a human editor before publication, and we don't republish unverified AI output. Our editorial policy describes how AI fits into our production process and what we verify.
Yes. See our cookies page for details. You can use your browser's privacy settings to block analytics cookies, or install the official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. We don't use advertising tracking or cross-site identifiers.
