Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

We are committed to making this website accessible in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA — the standard recommended by the UK Government Digital Service for public-facing websites. We use the same standard as the basis for our internal editorial and engineering reviews.

What this means in practice

• You can navigate the entire site using only a keyboard.
• Skip-to-content links are the first focusable element on every page.
• Headings are used in logical order so screen-reader users can navigate by structure.
• All images that convey information have alternative text. Decorative images are marked aria-hidden.
• Forms have labels, instructions, and error messages that screen readers can announce.
• Live regions announce search results and form status to screen-reader users.
• The site works with zoom up to 200% without breaking layout.
• Colour contrast meets WCAG 2.2 AA minimums for both text and interactive elements.
• The interactive tools and quizzes are usable with keyboard, including the timed exam.

Known limitations

We test the site regularly using axe-core and pa11y, and against screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver). Known limitations we are actively working on include:

• The PDF export of guides and certificates inherits some accessibility limitations from the underlying PDF renderer. We are working to improve tagged-PDF support.
• The interactive procurement and AI tools include some embedded UI patterns (sliders, custom dropdowns) that are usable with keyboard but may not perfectly match a screen-reader user's expectations for native controls. We continue to iterate.

Reporting an accessibility problem

We welcome reports of accessibility issues. If something doesn't work for you, email hello@publicskillshub.co.uk with as much detail as you can — the page, your browser and assistive technology, and what you were trying to do. We aim to acknowledge reports within 5 working days and to fix issues as quickly as we can.

Enforcement

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 in the UK. Public Skills Hub is a private educational service, not a public sector body, so those regulations don't apply directly — but we use them as a benchmark because much of our audience does.
